MOLD REMEDIATION

Newer buildings and homes constructed with efficient designs and materials have actually promoted mold growth by trapping moisture.  This moisture contributes to microbial contamination, as well as mold spores, mildew and fungi dispersal in facilities.  EME’s certified technicians go beyond simple cleaning in attacking mold, using special sporicides and economical remediation procedures.

EME follows a multi-step process for a mold remediation based on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) S520 standard and reference for professional mold remediation.

  • Clear goals and objectives of the process are established and understood by all involved parties.
  • Engineering controls must be established, site safety signs posted and job site containment must be established using poly structures and air filtration devices.
  • EME’s technicians don Personal Protection Equipment before beginning remediation work.
  • Selective demo of microbial impacted non cleanable surfaces.
  • Chemical treatment of affected substrate.
  • Aggressive cleaning techniques such as dry ice blasting, are used to physically remove mold. This process is then followed-up with a thorough Hepa-Vac.
  • Additional air scrubbing and third party air clearance test are performed inside the containment with background level checks.
  • After successful air clearance, containment is Hepa-Vac again before dismantling.
  • A close out package is assembled for the customer containing worker certifications, insurance certifications, daily construction reports and third party air clearance test results.

Every job is different and this multi-step process is a general summary, which does not include every step and detail, but is a general outline of EME’s mold remediation process.
